This workshop results from the work of the “Supporting Agile Adoption” initiative of the Agile Alliance. We follow the ideas laid out in our article “How not to Scale” in the “Emergence” magazine to demonstrate the attendees that sustaining agility, team performance and overall organizational success is challenging when the company grows. Similarly, implementing agility in a large-scale organization is a challenge. In this workshop for Scrum Masters, Coaches and Organizational Leaders we explore options to grow beyond more structure, more planning and more bureaucracy by instead focusing on growth of competences and capabilities. Based on many years of experience at Ericsson, Spotify, consulting and academic research we challenge the conventional perceptions and ideas about scaling giving practical advice for how to avoid the common pitfalls on the path of organizational growth.
